Vocabulaire — les quatre modules

Four modules covering the four things that decide whether a word comes out right: the preposition the word in front of it demands, the prefix that separates prévenir from revenir, the choice between near-synonyms, and the blocks that have to be stored whole. Each module opens with a lesson, then 600 questions across the suite in five formats.

How the modules work

Every module is one page: a lesson at the top, then the units below it. Answers are saved in the browser, so you can close the page and come back to the same unit.

Practice
Answer one question at a time. The explanation appears immediately, in English, and names the word that tempted you and why it does not fit.
Exam
Timed, no feedback until the end. The report breaks the score down by domain so you can see which units to go back to.

A working order

  1. Prépositions first. It is the largest single source of errors, and every other module reuses the frames it teaches.
  2. Verbes préfixés next. Unit V7 gives you a way to read a verb you have never met, which pays off on the reading paper.
  3. Structures for the written test — collocations, nominalisation and the set phrases of the five fields the exam keeps returning to.
  4. Synonymes et registre last, once the frames are automatic and the choice is between words that are all grammatically possible.

Reading the explanations

Each explanation names the deciding feature — the verb that governs the slot, the prefix, the register, the noun the verb collocates with — and then says what would have to change in the sentence for the tempting answer to become correct. That second half is the part worth writing down.
